God's work. Our hands. Sunday: Sunday, September 11, 2022

"This day is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor.

Service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutherans: that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life – flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God’s grace."

How can St. James make a difference in the community on this day of service? Share your ideas with Pastor John, Vicky Richter or any member of the C-Team!

Lehigh County Conference of Churches Conference Kitchen: St. James has a group of volunteers that assist serving at the Conference Kitchen for many year. This ministry serves over 35,000 meals each year. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served Monday-Friday to those in need. In the current model, volunteers will pack to-go lunches for patrons, assist in distribution and then clean up. Additional volunteers are needed to assist with lunch on the second Wednesday of each month from 9am-1pm. No experience needed! Click here to sign up! For more information, please contact the church office.

PROJECT COMFORT: After Blessing the Quilts in October, 139 quilts and 25 fleece blankets were distributed to Safe Harbor, Bethany Ministries and Robb Middle School. The Christmas themed quilts were a huge hit! There were even offers to buy our quilts! All groups were very appreciative of our generosity. If you would like to be involved with this ministry, here are a few possibilities:
1. Pray for this ministry and the people it serves.
2. Donate clean ( new or used) sheets, blankets, mattress pads to be used as the warming layer of our quilts.
3. Donate fabric - (new or used) 100% cotton for use in making colorful tops.
4. Purchase JoAnn fabric gift cards and donate to the group. Luckily, you can purchase these through the St. James Scrip program which would then also benefit Vision Alive!
5. If you sew, you can stitch blocks together to create quilt tops (60x80).
6. Consider joining our group once a month to sandwich the layers of the quilt together. This involves hand stitching strings through the layers to keep the quilt together.
Thank you for your continued support! Any questions? Call Vicky Richter 610-442-9091.
Gift Card orders: Gift cards purchased through Scrip help St. James to raise funds to assist Vision Alive in providing for the orphans in their care. Orders will be placed once a month and you may place orders with Pam Page by the last Sunday of each month by email or handing in an order to the church office or dropped in the offering plate. A Message from Pam Page

There are many ways you can give to St. James during this unprecedented time.

We have a link to Vanco Services available on our website. This is the company that handles our Simply Giving.  Simply Giving can be set up for automatic giving for one month, two months or any given period so we can add a stop date if needed. You can give through an ACH payment which will deduct your contribution out of a checking or savings account. You can contact me for more information and to set this up. There is also a giving app, Give+, from Vanco and instructions for that are also on the church website giving page
We also have Pay Pal which allows you to contribute through your own Pay Pal account which would come out of your account or checking account - which ever you have set up with Pay Pal.
Contributions of written checks will always be accepted by mailing them to the church office. Although our activities may be curtailed for a time, our fixed expenses for our ministries, staffing, and building operations continue. Thank you for your continued support!
To contact Pam, send an email to or call (610) 360-0226.
